By our reporter

Another victory arrived for All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Osun State Elections Petitions Tribunal today sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke from being the state Chief Executive.

The Justice Tetse Kume-led tribunal,in its judgment, nullified the election of the governor, who was elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared APC governorship candidate and immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, as duly elected in the 16 July,2022 governorship poll.

Oyetola had in August,2022, headed to the tribunal to challenge the election victory of Adeleke.

Citing several grounds, Oyetola had argued that there was over-voting in 749 polling units across 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Delivering judgment today, the tribunal,in a majority judgment, held that there was indeed over-voting on the examination of BVAS manipulation.

The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Adeleke and issue the same to Oyetola.

The judgment, read by Justice Kume, said Oyetola got the majority of lawful votes of 314,931 while Adeleke had 219,666.
