Kogi guber: Low turnout mars voting in Dino Melaye’s hometown

The governorship election in Kogi state on Saturday, November 11, witnessed a low turnout of voters in Ayetoro Gbede, the hometown of Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

 

Polling units in Open Space before ECWA church, Okebukun, Ayetoro, and Open space opposite Marktot Oil and Gas, Aniekpe quarters visited by our correspondent, were electoral officials seen waiting for voters to turn out to cast their ballots.

 

At polling, Melaye polling unit 004, Iluafon quarters, Ayetoro, INEC officials were seen waiting for the voters as of 1:20 pm when our correspondent visited the unit.

 

The Presiding Officer at the unit told our reporter that 819 voters were expected at the unit but the turnout as of the time of the visit was 240.

 

The situation was similar at Open Space Aduratedo quarters, with 521 voters expected but only 213 voters had cast their votes as of the time of filing this report.
