It is no longer news that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress,APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed one of his trusted political sons, Hon.James Abiodun Faleke, as the secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council .This appointment though well deserved got many analyst commenting on the criteria that was used as the basis of the appointment that many see as the engine room of any presidential campaign team.
The answer to this poser is simple; faithfulness and loyalty to his political mentor in the past made it easy to pick the house of representative member as the man eminently qualified for this arduous job.
Many are today of the opinion that to those who knows Hon.Faleke, one of his basic qualities as a politician that took him to the top is his unceasing loyalty to his political boss. This traits of his is noticeably his major political strength.
It is true that Hon.Faleke is a politician in every sense of the word but he is different from the typical Nigerian Politicians whose interests works at cross purpose with the interests of their bosses. Hon.Faleke has never been known to have a marked tendency to put his interests and ambitions above that of his bosses. He seems to be an apostle of reciprocal loyalty in his political dealings.
With this appointment the presidential candidate of the APC has demonstrated that he is a rewarder of loyalty and shows him a quick learner from the not too recent past of ambiguities and double dealings in his camp in the lead up to the presidential primary.
Loyalty is a leadership lesson Faleke learnt from his father who taught him that loyalty is a wonderful human quality and when he grew up as a politician he recognizes also the fact that loyalty is also a necessary factor in politics and it became his major political currency that has made him excell in most of his political conducts.
Many today are of the view that no presidential candidate desirous of getting victory at the 2023 election will appoint any of his campaign official as important as the secretary without first using loyalty as a yardstick for selection. Many also alluded to the fact that the APC presidential candidate, who is a reknowned political strategists would not be oblivious of the fact that successive presidential candidates before him considers the lessons of past disloyalty which included leaks, disobedience and private agendas as a marks for political failures would appoint a man not trusted by him as the secretary of his campaign team.This appointment have shown to those who have not known that to Bola Tinubu Hon. James Faleke is the trusted one among many of his trusted aides and confidant and above all, it is a lesson that unceasing loyalty pays.
The demand for absolute loyalty is to Faleke, a benchmark that is always needed in this state of our democratic development. He is now considered as the reference point for Tinubu’s campaign successes or failures. Faleke without doubt is eminently qualified for this assignment because he has learned through experience over the past years.
Today, it is a known fact that the complexities of a presidential campaign organisation like the present APC presidential campaign council has become so diverse and complicated. This predicated the need for the competence and capacities of Faleke.
It is expected finally that through his appointment as the secretary of the presidential campaign council, he will be a major force in the wheel of progress for the APC presidential campaign and will facilitate the desired electoral victory for Tinubu and Shettima.
