Business mogul and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race.
In a statement on Friday, he disclosed that he was pulling out of the race after due consultations and deep considerations on current developments on the political scene.
The business mogul said he was withdrawing “after series of consultations and reflections on current developments in the political scene.”
Olawepo-Hashim, in a statement from his media office, explained that his decision to contest was to offer a national platform for progressive forces who believe in the dream of a new Nigeria, adding that “my own day will come.”
According to him, certain developments have necessitated his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race, as a result of which I did not pick the nomination form.”
He said, “retreating not out of the lack of will to fight for our resolve and collective aspiration for a New Nigeria, a struggle which has attracted enormous support.”
“Sometimes will and resolve, energy and preparation may not be enough to engage in an encounter”, the activist.
Olawepo-Hashim, was the presidential candidate of the Trust Party in the 2019 election.
