Membership revalidation /registration exercise: Don’t hijack process, Bello warns

The Chairman, National Registration Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Sani Bello of Niger State, has warned chieftains and groups in the party against the theft or hijacking of the registration materials during the exercise

The governor issued the warning on Wednesday in Abuja during the inauguration of New members of state registration committees.

The success of the exercise would determine the chances of the party in the 2023 poll, Governor, Bello said

He further noted: “You should also note that domination of registration process by an individual or group will also not be accepted the whole intention of this exercise is to expand our membership base for we believe that when this is done we believe that it will increase our chances in the next coming election.

“I appeal to the chairman and secretaries of this committee to stand their ground and ensure that justice and fairness prevail.”

While giving reasons for the exercise, he said: “We have very few members that have left the party, we have many many members that have joined the party, we have young boys and girls who have turned 18 in between 2014 and today.

“We believe that they should be given the opportunity to register as members of our great party the APC. we also have numerous people that have decamped from various parties to APC we also have numerous number of people that have become from other party and have joined us and overtime they have this feeling that they have not been fully accepted into the APC family.

“This exercise will provide for them an opportunity to be fully accepted or to feel at home during the evaluation exercise also please note the objective of this exercise is to ensure that no one is left behind, is to make sure that any interested person or group are free to join APC and this is out of our belief that people make the party the more the merrier.”

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said that the state will record the highest number of persons in the membership and revalidation registration exercise spanning 2nd to 16th of February this year.

The Governor while answering questions from reporters after the inauguration of the committees in Abuja said that Kano state would use the opportunity provided by the exercise to prove that it remains the largest democracy in Nigeria.

His words: ” I believe we are going to have a very effective and efficient registration process and we will end up with very high members that are registered.”
