Kogi INEC officials still awaiting buses

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission deployed to various polling units across Lokoja are currently stranded at the Ajayi Crowther Memorial School.

The officials were at the location to receive electoral materials for the conduct of the governorship elections in the state.

Among them are corps members and other ad-hoc staff contracted by the commission for the conduct of the election.

Though the officials have received the electoral materials, they are still stranded as no means of transportation to their various polling units was in sight.

An official was heard informing others that the only way they could get to their location was if the voters at the polling units arranged transportation for them.

As of the time of filing this report, only three minibuses were on sight to transport over 200 electoral officials.

A total of 1.8 million registered voters are expected to vote in the Saturday off-cycle governorship election in Kogi. The election will be held in 3,508 polling units spread across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The LGAs included Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi, Lokoja, Mopamuro, Ofu, Ogori-Magongo, Okene, Okehi, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba-East, and Yagba-West.
