Kaduna flags off 26.3km Kafanchan township roads construction

The Kaduna state government on Friday flagged off the construction of 21 Kafanchan township roads in Jema’a local government area totaling a distance of 26.3km at the cost of N12 billion.

The managing director, Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), Engr. Mohammed Lawal Magaji, who did the flag-off ceremony at Katsina Road, Kafanchan, on Friday, said the 21 road projects included the expansion of 18 roads totaling 15.5km at the cost of over N5 billion awarded to the indigenous company, Farmtrac Nigeria Limited to be completed within 15 months.

“The Kaduna state urban renewal project was flagged off in Kaduna. We are here in Kafanchan to kick-start the commencement of the urban renewal project in Kafanchan. The contractors have mobilized to the site with new machines, equipment, and tools. We expect that the standard urban renewal project is the same as that of Kaduna.

“We are here to kick-start the project, we are going to check the alignment, and then we would start work immediately. We expect that the people of Kafanchan will give us maximum support to deliver good work. Their cooperation is key to the timely completion of the projects,” he said.

Speaking on why Farmtrac, an indigenous company, was selected for the project despite having many foreign companies around, he said Farmtrac “can compete favorably against any foreign company; the government policy was to engage a good indigenous company with a good track record.”

“Farmtrac has executed many projects in Kaduna state; so, we believe they compete favorably with foreign companies with the quality of their work; that is why they are chosen for this project
