EndSARS:Focus On Economy And Leave Criminal Investigation To Law Enforcement Agency, Banire Counsels CBN Governor

Former legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Muiz Banire SAN, has counseled the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele to leave the criminal investigation to the law enforcement agencies and focus on the economy.

Speaking on a current affairs program, Politics Today, monitored in Lagos on Wednesday, Banire said the CBN has descended into the arena by seeking an exparte order to freeze the account of individuals and company for 91 days.

Banire said the trust deficit gap will continue to widen if the federal government reneges on its promise to dialogue with the EndSARS protesters and turned around to persecute them.

He blamed some of the crises in the agencies and departments of the country on to lack of proper coordination.

He explained that there are many law enforcement agencies that have the manpower to do such an investigation.

He, however, advised that all men of goodwill in the country should speak against this unbridled act before it turns out to hunt everyone.

On his membership of the ruling party, he says, “ I was a member of the APC two years ago. I think you know what that meant.”

It will be recalled that the accounts of 19 individuals and one company were frozen when the CBN approached a magistrate court for exparte order.

Banire who said President Muhammadu Buhari may not be aware of this said it’s not unlikely that some overzealousness officials trying to show impress Mr. President are behind the untoward act
