Vice president Yemi osinbanjo aide Hon. Mr. Philip Obin is to sponsor passport photographs for 10,000 intending members in Cross river state. Provision of two passport-sized photographs is one of the requirements of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for membership registration and revalidation exercise billed to commence on the 9th of February 2021 across the nation.
In view of this, The technical Assistant to the Vice president of Nigeria on New Media, Hon. Mr. Philip Obin has put in place structures to provide free photography services to no fewer than 10,000 persons in Calabar, the Cross River state capital who intends to register as members of the All Progressive Congress. The development is contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to some designated media houses on Thursday 4th February 2021.
” This is to inform all residents of Calabar wishing to join the APC, that the technical assistant to the Vice president on New Media Hon. Philip Obin is sponsoring free passport photographs for 10,000 people”. The statement reads. It further called on “Those interested in taking part in the registration and revalidation exercise but who cannot afford passport photographs, to visit Marian hotel at 125 old ikang road Calabar, from 9 am to 5 pm, on Friday 5th to 7th February 2021, ahead of the registration proper which will commence in all INEC polling units from 9th of February 2021”.
Adding to that, the team in charge of free passport photographs will from Monday 8th February move from LGA to LGA and from wards towards, especially in rural areas where such free services are most needed. Recall that Mr. Philip Obin has facilitated loans and grants to thousand of cross Riverians and secured jobs for dozen others. Just last week, he engaged hundreds of youth in two centers to help businesses based in Calabar, to take advantage of the federal government payroll support program, a component of the survival fund meant to pay salaries of up to 10 staff of companies in Nigeria for a period of three months.
This, however, is part of the federal government’s effort in ensuring that businesses in the country, survive and scale through the attendant economic challenges occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic. At the end of the exercise, the two centers were able to register 1,000 companies amounting to about 10,000 staff/beneficiaries.
Mr. Philip Obin is one of the very few federal appointees in Cross river state, who have continued to attract dividends of democracy to people of the state using his position as a presidential aide. He is in charge of statehouse press known as Villaupdates.ng
