An Aide to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie has blasted Nigerians for their lack of understanding of what patriotism and sovereignty are.
Onochie who was clearly reacting to the events that took place in the US after the presidential election said most Americans understand what patriotism and sovereignty are, but most Nigerians understand neither. She then adds that “we (Nigerians) hate president Buhari and so we hate Nigeria too. Sad”
Recall that after supporters of US president, Donald Trump invaded the US Capitol hill yesterday, and tried to force their way into where the US Congress is meeting to certify Joe Biden’s victory, many prominent Americans blamed Donald Trump for inciting the ugly incident that happened which some even termed a coup.
Following this, some aides to the US president and the US first Lady tendered their resignation as a show of their disapproval to Mr Trump’s actions and patriotism to their country. Even the vice president, whom Trump had been hoping will use his ceremonial role to overturn Joe Biden’s victory during the meeting of Congress demonstrated his patriotism to the American constitution by affirming the US president-elect.
