Senate President Lawan Empowers 300 Newly Wedded Couples In Yobe With Skills

The President of the Senate, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, has on Monday flagged off the skills acquisition and empowerment program for 300 recently wedded vulnerable couples in Yobe North Senatorial District.

Speaking to the news reports in Gashua town, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area, the Coordinator of the ‘Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL)’ Foundation, revealed that the program was meant to empower 300 couples that the senate President sponsored their wedding recently in the six Local Government Areas of Yobe North Senatorial Zone.

He explained that the six benefiting LGAs were Bade, Jakusko, Yusufari, Nguru, Machina, and Kararuwa.

He added that the empowerment program was organized in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSA-SDGs).

Dagona also said that the first phase of the training part of the empowerment was handled by ‘Hive Africa’ will concentrate on skills like tailoring, soap making, hairdressing, catering, make-ups among other trades.

“After the 14 days training, each beneficiary will have tools and working capitals according to his respective fields of specialization”.

According to him, the first week of the training will concentrate on women beneficiaries while the men counterparts would receive their training in the second week respectively.

Beneficiaries Saliha Aminu and Maryam Auwal expressed their appreciation to the President of the Senate for his efforts in improving their plights.

“We will continue to remain grateful for all that he has been doing to his constituents, we are indeed grateful to him and his foundation for assisting us”.
