Atotal of 573 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Sabuwar Dan Masara town in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, have announced their defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We can no longer continue to be part of a party that has abandoned the principles of fairness and justice,” said Mustapha Adamu (Shugaba), the leader of the defectors.

“We are convinced that the PDP is the party that truly cares about the welfare of Nigerians and will work tirelessly to address the challenges facing our state and country.”

The defection ceremony was held on Friday, with Shugaba citing the mounting economic hardship bequeathed on Nigerians by President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the reason for their decision.

“We are excited to join a party that is dedicated to building a better Nigeria for all its citizens,” he said, urging other APC members who shared their concerns to follow suit and join the PDP.

Umar Danjani, the deputy Jigawa State chairman of the PDP, warmly welcomed the defectors to the party, expressing delight at the growing strength of the PDP in Jigawa State.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards building a stronger, more united party,” he said.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new members and look forward to working together towards a brighter future for our state.”

Danjani emphasised the PDP’s commitment to progress and development, highlighting the party’s vision for a better Jigawa State.

“Our party is dedicated to addressing the challenges facing our state and country, and we believe that together, we can achieve great things,” he explained.
