Order to Shoot AK-47 Carriers Should come from Buhari, not His Aide- Delta Rep. Member

A Minority Leaded in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to personally issue the directive to shoot and kill people seeing with arms.

Elumelu who represents the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State said this while responding to questions asked him on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

President Buhari’s Media Aide, Mr. Garba Shehu had on Wednesday said that the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces had given the green light for those wielding AK-47 rifles to be shot on sight.

However, Elumelu feels such an order will be better adhered to if stated by the President himself.

“The statement credited to the media aide to Mr. President is a welcome development. I would have preferred Mr. President by himself to have made that broadcast,” Elumelu said.

“I will like him to outrightly condemn the activities of the herdsmen. They are everywhere, messing up all the communities, attacking people, because there are some people that are very fanatical and they will want to hear him speak.

“Yes, Shehu, his media aide, making that statement is not the same thing as Mr. President making that statement. I will like to see Mr. President making that statement himself and also making that directive that anybody saw with any form of arms, not even AK-47 alone.”

Ndudi Elumelu is the brother of a business tycoon, Tony Elumelu.
