The Northern Senators Forum has condemned in the strongest possible terms the brutal killing of no fewer than 35 innocent civilians in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State—a shocking tragedy that occurred even after ransom payments were made by the families of the abducted.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the Forum described the attack as a “devastating blow” to the conscience of the nation and a painful reminder of the persistent insecurity plaguing the North.

“This is not who we are as a people. The North is a region known for its hospitality, its warmth, and its community spirit. These killings are alien to our values,” the Forum said.

The senators expressed deep sympathy to the affected families and the entire people of Zamfara, praying for Allah’s mercy on the departed and healing for those left behind in mourning.

They called for urgent synergy between security agencies and local vigilante groups to track, apprehend, and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.

He said, “Our security architecture must be retooled and intelligence-sharing strengthened. No Nigerian should lose their life in such gruesome circumstances, especially not after their loved ones have done all they could to save them.”

The Forum also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing commitment to security, especially through increased funding and recent mass recruitment efforts across the forces.

He said, “We look forward to intensified training, smarter deployment, and real-time intervention. Our people are tired. They deserve to live in peace.”

The Northern Senators Forum reaffirmed its commitment to supporting every effort aimed at ending insecurity and restoring hope and safety across the North and beyond.
