Senator Elect for the Ogun East senatorial district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has come out to say that unlike the current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has done, none of the former president were bold enough to remove to fuel subsidy.
According to Sen. Gbenga Daniel who appeared in an interview on Arise Tv this morning.
“What I want Nigerians to appreciate is that every president in the last few years came to the conclusion that the subsidy was not sustainable but none of them were bold enough to remove it. Even the outgoing president said it will go after he has left and now someone has come in as said we shouldn’t deceive ourselves with this any longer. The biggest issue about the subsidy is that we are not only subsidising Nigeria but also West Africa. And there’s no way that is sustainable. And with the borders open and no way the subsidies will remain within the borders of Nigeria, then clearly we cannot continue to subsidise the entire West African subregion.”
