
The National Commissioner and CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji, Delivered a compelling Goodwill Message during the maiden edition of the National Cybersecurity Conference 2025, held in Abuja, Nigeria. The prestigious event was organised by the National Information Technology Development Agency ( NITDA Nigeria ) under the dynamic leadership of its Director-General, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.

In his address, Dr. Olatunji applauded NITDA for convening such a timely and strategic Gathering, noting that the interrelationship between Cybersecurity and Data Privacy cannot be overemphasized. While Cybersecurity, he explained, hinges on technical safeguards such as encryption, firewalls, and access controls to Protect Digital Infrastructures, Data Privacy Rests on legal frameworks that empower individuals to Decide how their Personal Data is handled. He underscored the need for Robust Policies, Human Capital Development, Strategic Infrastructure, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and political will as essential pillars for building a Secure and Resilient Digital Nigeria.
Dr. Olatunji reaffirmed NDPC’s commitment in supporting and participating actively in the conference’s sessions, describing the event as a pivotal moment for advancing Nigeria’s Digital economy and enhancing National Cyber Resilience. Dignitaries present at the event included the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede; Senate ICT Committee Chairman, Senator Shuaibu Salisu; House ICT Committee Chairman, Hon. Adedeji S. Olajide; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Rafiu Adeladan; and the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr., among others.
