Man Who Nicknamed Uzodinma ‘Supreme Court Governor’ Decamps To APC, Vows To Work For Uzodimma

On May 28, 2020, the Department of Security Service, DSS invited and detained Mr. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, the Director-General of Imo PDP New Media.

Nwaogwugwu was held in DSS custody for a total of 20 days during which he was charged to court. When the suspect was arrested, there were various suspicions and allegations in the media.

These will include: Identifying Hope Uzodinma as a Supreme Court governor; allegation of renaming Imo State University (IMSU) after Abba Kyari, former chief of staff to President Buhari and diversion of N5.2 billion meant for pensioners in the state.

Subsequently, the DSS arraigned Nwaogwugwu in court. In a charge sheet marked 0W/217c/2020, the suspect was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on terrorism, cyberbullying, defamation, and attempting to incite citizens against the governor.

Just weeks after he was cleared by the court, Ambrose dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Imo state.

The former Director-General of Imo PDP New Media, who garnered much popularity due to his incessant attacks on the Hope Uzodinma-led government, said that he took the bold step after carefully examining the governance of Senator Hope Uzodinma.

He held that Uzodinma is the best thing to happen to Ndi Imo and there’s no need for him to remain in opposition. He vowed to work for Governor Uzodinma and further changed his nickname to ‘People’s Governor’.

Late last week, He formally declared his membership at the APC headquarters in his local government area. He was duly welcomed and the event was highly attended by notable APC chieftains.

Meanwhile, his defection has generated reactions from the public. While some have criticized him for licking his own wound, others have hailed him for taking a bold step.
