Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, commends the people of the State for their peaceful conduct and overwhelming support for the APC candidate in the November 11 governorship election, Ahmed Usman Ododo. He calls on the citizens to rally behind the Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, and his Deputy, Joel Salifu, for the betterment of the state, assuring that Ododo will meet their expectations as the Governor of Kogi State.
The Governor made the call while addressing traditional rulers from the central senatorial district at his residence in Okene on Tuesday.


Governor Bello, noting that politicking was over, stated that it was imperative for the people to extend their support to the incoming administration to succeed for the overall benefit of the people.


While charging the duo to live up to expectations and consolidate on the legacies of the New Direction government for the benefit of the people, Governor Bello urged them to run a government devoid of sentiment in all forms.


The Governor further implored the youths to be focused and take up leadership positions so as not to be left behind in the scheme of things.
Governor-Elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, enjoined the citizens to join hands with him to work for the progress of the state, promising to ensure inclusion in governance.


Alhaji Ododo applauded the developmental strides of Governor Bello, which he said paved the way for the victory of APC in the November 11 polls.


Earlier, Ohi of Okengwe, Ahmed Muhammad Anaje, who expressed joy over the emergence of the former Auditor General for Local Government, noted that Ebiraland and the traditional institution in Kogi State would continue to rally around Ododo to make him succeed as Governor of Kogi State.


The traditional leader commended the governor and other stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the election that produced Ahmed Usman Ododo as the winner. He emphasized that the security and peace existing in the state gave a chance for the peaceful polls on November 11.


The occasion was attended by the deputy governor-elect, Comrade Joel Salifu, political appointees from the central, traditional rulers from Ebiraland, party members, and supporters.


On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Ahmed Usman Ododo the winner of the November 11 governorship election, having polled the highest number of lawful votes of 446,237 to defeat other candidates.
