Atiku’s Presidential bid Suffers big blow in North-West

The bid by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to garner votes in Zamfara State in the 2023 election has suffered a major blow as a member of his Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr. Hamza Abubakar Haruna, has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

These were contained in a statement issued to journalists in Gusau, the state capital, by Press Secretary to the Governor, Comrade Jamilu Magaji.

Briefing newsmen at the APC North-West zonal office, along Isah Kaita Road in Kaduna, in company with members of some vibrant political groups from the PDP, Dr. Haruna defended his decision to join APC, saying it was to support the party’s North-West campaign coordinator win the zone for APC in 2023.

Dr. Haruna lauded the political maturity of Gov. Matawalle in unifying the party and making APC stronger in the zone.

Dwelling further on why he decamped, Dr. Haruna revealed that he considered the fact that the party will take the country to the next level, expressing optimism that Gov. Matawalle’s political strategy will continue to remain indelible in the minds of Zamfara people and the North-West in general.

He explained that he did not defect alone but came with several political groups, mostly youths, from across the seven states of the zone.

Matawalle, who had earlier received Dr. Haruna and his entourage at his residence, hailed him for choosing to align with APC and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Governor told his guests that Tinubu had mapped out enduring strategies to sustain the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari.
