The about our party cannot be hidden...We are making phenomenal progress

2023: APC Diaspora Chapters Mobilizing Massively For Tinubu – Makolo

As activities for the 2023 elections enter a new level, the diaspora liaison officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shamsudeen Abubakar Makolo has said that the various diaspora chapters of the party are assiduously mobilising Nigerians in the diaspora for the realization of the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of Nigeria come 2023.

According to Makolo, the former Lagos Governor has the acceptance and approval among a wide array of Nigerians in the diaspora many of whom are familiar with Tinubu’s great and extraordinary mark in the modernisation of Lagos state.

He made this known on Sunday during an exclusive interview with the APC NewsOnline, adding that the contribution of the diaspora chapters to the activities and fortune of the party in 2015 and 2019, shows that they should not be left out in the constitution of the campaign council.

He said, “ The diaspora is very important for our party. The diaspora have worked tirelessly for our party, right from 2015 even up to 2019 and they are still willing to work for our party and its flagbearer. So at this time, it wont be good to constitute a campaign council that does not capture the diaspora chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Right now we have about 13 certified chapters in the UK, Germany, Ghana, Benin, Scandinavia and there are still other chapters that are growing up that are not yet certified but are working in the interest of the party.

“So I look forward to the diaspora interest being captured into the campaign council. If you go into what the diaspora chapter has done for the party in 2015 and 2019, they went as far as writing to the prime minister of the UK and the President of the United States of America. The also wrote a lot of letters trumpeting the popularity of our candidate and they are still doing that. So the diaspora  should be recognized  and captured in the campaign council as a matter of necessity and urgency.

Makolo added that Tinubu’s usual itinerary to France and UK shows a man that believes in the contributions of the Nigerian diaspora to the economic and political life of the polity and would in that regards see them ably represented in the next dispensation.

“ Tinubu is a man of the people whether home or abroad, we know from his diaspora consultations in the lead up to the APC presidential primary. He was once deeply embedded in the diaspora community during the precarious NADECO days during the military dictatorship of the Sani Abacha. So he knows their weight and contribution to the body politic. So I hope to see more representation from that quarter in the lead up to the election proper.
